Medicare Part B:

Medical Insurance

Simply stated, Part B deals with Medical Insurance. It’s not the same as Part A which covers in-hospital care. Part B is for all the other times you see a doctor and more. It’s optional for Original Medicare but it’s built in to Medicare Part C. There’s a monthly charge for Part B and it’s deducted from your social security benefits. There’s a late enrollment fee if you don’t sign up for Part B when you’re first eligible for Part A (and at the time have no creditable health coverage)

Medicare Part B includes, as examples:

  • Doctor’s services: in the hospital, in the doctor’s office, from your doctor’s nurse, in any Medicare-approved medical or nursing facility, in the home

  • Outpatient hospital care: emergency room, clinic services, physical therapy, x-rays

  • Mental health care: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization

  • Home health care: part-time skilled services

  • Durable medical equipment: wheelchairs, braces, casts and ambulance services

  • Preventive services: screenings, flu shots, annual wellness visits and more

I am so glad that I found my Medicare Options agent, Bob K.! He knows exactly what plan is the best for you & if you qualify for extra help because of your income. I have met with other agents to discuss Medicare Advantage Plans & they were ok, but Bob is very knowledgeable on all the plans! I trust him completely.
